2024 Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship at Lanzhou University

I.  Introductions

The Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship is aiming to train talents in global governance with an international mindset, excellent overall quality, outstanding leadership skills, and a multi-cultural background. In 2024, 3 programs in Lanzhou University continue to be selected in the 2024-2025 academic year.

1. Training mode and duration:

The program adopts the ‘1+1’ mode. In the first academic year, applicants complete the full-time course study, research work, and dissertation preparation at Lanzhou University. In the second academic year, applicants return to their home countries to complete the dissertation in the light of their own professional work. They come to China to complete the dissertation defense as required. Those who pass will be awarded the degree.

3. Amount of funding: Full scholarship

I. Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

1.   be non-Chinese citizens under the age of 45 and in good mental and physical health;

2.   be an academically excellent holder of a bachelors degree with 3-year related working experience (at minimum) ; those with professional study or working background related to the applied program are preferred;

3.   Applicants must be one of the following four categories:

Public officials at the division level (or corresponding level) or above in the government department of the host country;

Senior managers of institutions, enterprises, or other units;

Administrators of universities and research institutions;

Persons with relevant experience(s) in international organizations (full-time or internship).

III. Application Materials

1. Copy of the passport page of personal information

2. The Certified/Notarized Copy of Bachelors Degree's Diploma and Transcript

3. Two recommendation letters from the applicant’s employers and/or professors. Telephone numbers and email addresses of the referees must be included in the letters.

4. Employment verification

5. English proficiency certificates.

6.  Personal Statement/ Research Proposal (800 words and above)

7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (completed in English or Chinese).  The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The result is valid for 6 months. Please bring the original with you when you arrive at school.

8. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application. If the applicant is unable to provide this document, as a substitute, the applicant could sign a non-criminal record commitment (Attached).

Note: Scanned copies of the documents will be sufficient during the application period. Originals or verified copies will be required upon enrollment at university.

IV. Application Steps

1.  Applicants should register in LZU online application system before 1st  April: https://lzu.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx,  LZU will provide eligible applicants with Pre-Admission Letter. (Enrollment category selection: CSC Chinese Government Scholarship--Type A--Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program)

2.  Applicants should register at the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (http://www.campuschina.org) and upload application materials before 15th  April.

Note:  Applicants need to  submit the application materials including the Pre-Admission Letter. Please select "Type A" with the Agency number : 1563,  then select "Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship" for the applied program.

V. Review and Admission

1. The China Scholarship Council will conduct a preliminary examination of the application materials and organize experts to evaluate the applications, and the final admission result will be determined after the expert evaluation.

2. Each scholarship recipient can only receive funding from one Chinese Government Scholarship program.

3. If the scholarship recipient cannot come to study in China according to the admission deadline, the scholarship status will not be retained.
